The Rüegg particle separator is now eligible for financial support in Germany amounting to € 500!

The Zumik®on particle separator is now eligible for financial support in Germany amounting to € 500 according to Bafa (Federal Office of Economics and Export Control) guidelines (www.bafa.de)

Letter of confirmation dated 15.10.2007 is available.

Rüegg Cheminée AG is currently offering the only secondary measure for reduction of respirable dust in biomass systems up to 50 kW.

Zumik®on efficiently reduces the respirable dust particles of kindling fires

There are many good reasons for wood as an ecological fuel. In particular its renewability and CO2 neutrality are important advantages. In order that the respirable dust emissions from wood fires do not inhibit the sustainable and positive development of this fuel, Rüegg has accelerated the further development and industrialisation of a partical separator for kindling fires, in co-operation with EMPA (Eidgenössische Materialprüfungsanstalt - Swiss material testing institute). The values of Rüegg as a company are reflected in this dedication: respect for the environment and the health and wellbeing of people.

Zumik®on –first particle separator for kindling fires

After several years of research and several patents, Rüegg could start with the production of the first pilot series in autumn 2005. In 2006 the first wood fires in Switzerland were equipped or retrofitted with a particle separator. The good laboratory measurement values were also confirmed on the test market. In this way, systems which were fitted with particle separators achieved a 60 - 90% separating effect in practice.

For ovens, open or closed fire pits and wood burning kettles

The principle of electrostatic particle separation by Zumik®on is universal and can be used with most kindling wood fires, independent of brand and system. The particle separator is suitable for wood fires with a power output range of less than 35 kW and with an exhaust gas pipe diameter of 150 mm to 300 mm. In the future all Rüegg heating appliance will be available to order fitted with a Zumik®on.

EMPA– a Swiss research institute with the focus on sustainable technology

The Swiss material and testing institute with 800 employees is specialised in material sciences and sustainable technology. The focus of their work is health and safety for people as well as environmental protection. The contemporary spirit of the EMPA is recognisable in their efficient collaboration with the industry, whereby high performance and ready to use technology can be developed: a good example of this is their co-operation with Rüegg and the resulting development of Zumik®on.

EMPA submitted various patents to protect Zumik®on technology. Rüegg is the exclusive licensee.
