Fitting the Zumik®on particle separator

Zumik®on can be installed by competent craftsmen who specialise in the area of wood fires and exhaust gas pipes: oven and fire place builders, heating installers, chimney builders and chimney sweeps.
Straight-forward technology
Zumik®on is principally made up of three components:
1. The filter insert with electrodes and thermostat is mounted on the exhaust pipe as a compact unit, whereby the electrodes are installed in the centre of the exhaust gas pipe via a defined opening.
2. The feed line is responsible for the cables and in certain uses (fire place and tiled oven) for the purge air circulation.
3. The regulating unit provides the electrode with the optimal voltage for the system and turns the system on or off according to the exhaust gas temperature.
All the system components are flush-mounted in the fireplace and only visible to the operator via the front plate of the control unit. Access to the filter insert must be possible via an inspection door, because every time it is cleaned the filter insert must be removed.
Requirements for problem free installation
Although the particle separator can be integrated as a secondary measure in almost all wood fires, the following requirements must be taken into account when installing a Zumik®on:
- At least 1.5 m of the exhaust gas pipe after the particle separator must be made of metal
- Diameter of the exhaust gas pipe must be 150 mm - 300 mm
- Accessibility of filter insert must be guaranteed in built-in condition, i.e. for fire places and oven an inspection door of at least 30 x 30 cm must be provided
- Purge air provision must always be guaranteed (5 m3/h)
- Exhaust gas temperature of less than 400°C (up to 500°C for a short term)
